What is the BPI Building Analyst Blended Program?

The Building Analyst Blended Program allows you to master the classroom portions of the training online, in the comfort of your own space and at your own schedule, while still getting hands on experience in field training (as well as the in-person written and field testing).

Rather than dedicating a full work week to taking the class in person, with the blended program you will be able to take the online course on your own computer, as it fits into your schedule, and only take 2 days to completing the field and exam portions of the training (saving on travel and accommodations expenses as well).

The 20 hour online program will teach you the Building Performance Institute Building Analyst essentials. The online coursework was developed with industry experts to deliver a reliably excellent experience every time.

What does the BPI Building Analyst Blended Program include?

  • Built in knowledge checks at the end of each section
  • Lots of reading material for those that like to see the information written down
  • Narrated slide shows if you prefer to watch and learn
  • Practice exam
  • Math reviews
  • One day of field training
  • BPI written and field exams

You can browse the material at your leisure over the 60 day access, or, if you prefer a more regimented program, we can set up a study schedule for you.

When you enroll, you'll set the date for your face-to-face BPI Certification field training, written exam, and field exam in an area near you (included in the program enrollment fee) with CleanEdison.

BPI Building Analyst Certification is a great way to complement and increase your company's Energy Saving and Environmental Services for your customers and to open new doors of opportunity in the Green building industry.

According to O*Net, which is used by the Federal Department of Labor to determine average wages, the median wage for an Energy Auditor in 2008 was $28.81 hourly or $59,920 annually.  This varies based on state, however, generally wages range from $20-$30 per hour.

Although they are similar, BPI and HERS have significant differences, and if you have not studied Combustion Safety Testing or CO2 monitoring, you will have a more difficult time than if you were to go through the complete BPI training course.  That said, if you have your HERS Certification, you will take a 50 question written BPI test (vs. a 100 question written test had you not yet been a HERS rater), as well as a BPI field test.  If you pass both, you will be a BPI Certified Building Analyst Professional.  Because of the difference in course topics, it is recommended that you still take the BPI Building Analyst Course, to give you the best chance of passing the exam.
