BPI Envelope-Shell Training

'BPI

Now that you have received your BPI Building Analyst Certification it's time to enhance your skills and propel yourself and your company ahead of the competition. CleanEdison's BPI Envelope Professional certification course is a BPI residential specialization that focuses on the building thermal and pressure boundaries and the ways to enhance the envelope through insulation and airsealing techniques.

As an individual this course will prepare you to understand not only how to analyze a home, but help you to understand why the process is so important. Every home is different and it is important to understand not only what is happening, but why problems related to the building envelope such as moisture, ice dams, mildew and drafts were created in the first place.

The BPI Envelope certification in conjunction with the Building Analyst certification will make your company eligible to apply for Accreditation. If your firm is accredited or considering accreditation, you must have at least one employee with the envelope certification if you wish to perform insulation and air sealing work.

CleanEdison provides the testing for all of our BPI classes, including both the field and written exams. For LEED however, the GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute) is the administrative body that provides certification and credentialing. GBCI contracts with Prometric Testing Centers to develop and deliver the exam.

Audits and Envelope/Shell work are complimentary of one another.  The audit tests the home for weaknesses and makes recommendations for the retrofit necessary to ensure proper performance of the home’s envelope/shell.  The way to do this is to obtain both the Building Analyst and Envelope Shell Certifications.  This will allow you to do both audits and retrofits on the same home.  Additionally, earning your BPI Envelop/Shell certification will give your company the eligibility to be BPI accredited.

A BPI certification will allow you to diversify the revenue stream for your business.  First it will allow you to perform Energy Efficiency Audits on homes. Second, the right combination of BPI courses for you and your employees will allow your company to become BPI accredited and take advantage of all the new business generated by federal and state incentive programs for homeowners.  After the audit is complete you will make recommendations for improvements to the home owner, which will generate a variety of opportunities for your business to grow and capitalize upon.

Testimonials

My most rewarding experience as a CleanEdison teacher is to listen to students' amazement as they begin to 'get it' and their scores rise. I'm glad so many feel they learned a lot.
