13 Hours of Classroom Training
The BPI Building Analyst classroom training gives you the essential knowledge to perform an energy audit. Our instructors use CleanEdison’s proprietary Building Analyst curriculum approved by the Building Performance Institute to educate you on the following topics:

8 Hours of Field Training
BPI Building Analyst Field Training applies the fundamental principals learned in the classroom to an actual residential home. The training will have a large focus on Combustion Appliance Zone testing due to its importance with maintaining the health of the housing occupants. You will go on location and be taught how to identify common residential problems and learn the following:
Identifying residential problems such as:
- Mold and moisture
- Gas leaks
- Carbon monoxide
- Inefficiencies in building systems
- Structure
Gain proficiency with equipment including:
- Blower door
- Ambient carbon
- Monoxide detector
- Monometer
- Natural gas detector
- Flue gas detector
A Written Exam
There is no training involved in this section of the course. This is the actual BA Written Exam ansd is conducted online with a BPI-approved proctor. If you need to take more than one exam, you must purchase two written exam slots.
A Field Exam
This exam will be a one-on-one 2 hour exam consisting of you performing an assessment of a home incorporating the various features learned in the Building Analyst training course. The exam will be conducted by a BPI-approved proctor.
