Instructor Spotlight


Reed is a BPI Training Instructor / Proctor and currently is one of a few “Super” Proctors for BPI in the US. This status allows the capability to “train the trainer” and certify new proctors. He is also a Certified HERS Rater, a Level 2 Thermographer, a Certified Corporate Trainer and a private pilot.

As an architectural consultant, LEED AP BD+C, trained LEED Certification Reviewer, Licensed Real Estate Broker and AIA associate, with over 37 years of combined experience in architecture, real estate and business along with involvement on two LEED registered projects, Valerie is dynamically engaged in sustainability and issues regarding the built environment. Actively participating in several local, county and national organizations and committees focused on sustainability issues, she currently serves on the Community Appearance Board for the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Green Environmental and Energy Committee for the Town of Davie, the Urban Farm Task Force for the Town of Davie, the Workforce One Green Think Tank, consultant for the Broward County Workforce Innovation Project, the Greenhouse Gas Reductions and Property & Infrastructure (Built Environment Adaptation) sub committees of the Broward County Climate Change Task Force, and a member of the USGBC, South Florida Chapter and Architecture for Humanity Miami. A committed member of Architecture 2030 and 350.org, she is the Fort Lauderdale Green Culture Examiner, National Green Culture Examiner and Broward Net On Line, Emerging Green writing online about both local and national green events and news.

Mark received Master Trainer Certification, Assessment Administrator Certification, and Accreditation Site Visitor Certification from the University of Florida (NCCER). Since then, he has worked as a Senior Trainer in providing BPI Certification, and also has experience in weatherization research, including a focus on concerns and training needs for state weatherization programs. That, combined with three years of coordinating building permits, building code specifications, and assessing properties for weatherization upgrades, has earned him a lot of useful industry knowledge.

John is a veteran of the United States Army as a Combat Engineer specializing in demolitions and explosions. He is an EPA lead supervisor/contractor as well as a New York State DOL asbestos supervisor.

Norm has over 22 years of general contracting experience in single and multi-family residential construction (over 150 homes built). He has an engineering degree from University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Wharton School.

Clifford has performed construction for over 25 years. Most recently he was the manager of a contracting department in a large nationally know energy efficiency company. He oversaw efficiency retrofits including HVAC upgrades, building envelope improvements, and Solar installations.
