In this 8-hour online anytime class you will learn about green building and LEED fundamentals. All topics are geared toward understanding the core concepts of LEED and preparing you for the LEED Green Associate exam and for part one of the new two part LEED AP exam. Participants will receive training on the concepts that are fundamental to the LEED Rating Systems and will learn successful green building strategies. The training series concludes with an overview of recommended study methods, exam-taking skills and practice questions for the LEED Green Associate exam.

This class will qualify you to take the LEED Green Associate Exam.

To take the LEED Green Associate exam, you must have previous experience supporting a LEED-registered project, be working in a sustainable field of work, or have attended an education program that addresses green building principles. When you take this course, we have certificates of completion available to help you meet this requirement.

About the Instructor

Kelly Gearhart, LEED AP BD+C and O+M is a founder and Principal with the international green building consulting firm Triple Green Building Group (Triple Green). With locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA and Sophia, Bulgaria, Triple Green provides expertise to design, construction and building operations professionals, governments, corporate entities and non-profit organizations seeking responsible approaches to building and development through sustainable project planning and design, LEED consulting and administration, education and training.

Kelly works with building types including: Schools, churches, office buildings, military installations, manufacturing facilities, universities, colleges, dormitories, hotels, condominiums, health care facilities, nursing homes, museums, performance centers, sports arenas, animal sanctuaries, athletic facilities, community centers, mixed use developments, homes, fire stations, city facilities, state facilities and federal facilities.

Kelly is a USGBC LEED Faculty member, Instructor for the University of California, former Manager of Commercial Green Building Services at Southface Energy Institute, Inc. and has been involved with green building education, technical assistance, and leadership since 2005.

Accredited in the new Building Design + Construction and Existing Buildings: Operations + Maintenance programs, Kelly has taught over 75 full-day and multi-day LEED courses, facilitated seven full-day and multi-day green building charrettes, presented at 12 conferences, consulted with more than 100 clients on green building strategies and worked on over 30 LEED registered and certified projects across the U.S. and internationally. Gearhart served as an officer on the board of the USGBC Atlanta Chapter for two years as well as serving as a member of USGBC’s Southeast Regional Council. Currently, Gearhart is managing LEED projects, teaching courses at Berkeley, delivering LEED workshops around the U.S. and working to implement carbon reduction strategies in cities and municipalities throughout California as the Co-Chair of USGBC Northern California Chapter’s Climate Change Task Force.
