What is Solar PV?
Solar Photovoltaic is a solar technology which uses solar cells, the components of a solar panel, to convert sunlight into usable electricity. The solar cells absorb photons from the sun's rays releasing electrons, which can travel into the electric grid powering homes, businesses and industrial spaces. Solar PV systems, due to their renewable energy source and their limited impact on the environment, allow us to produce large amounts of electricity sustainably.
Solar PV is gaining in popularity as homeowners are increasingly generating residential solar power by having solar panels installed on their roofs. Residential solar power usually must be supplemented by traditional electrical sources to provide power when solar panels cannot meet the need, such as when weather conditions are unfavorable. However, a grid-connected residential solar PV system can also feed excess generated power back into the grid.
Solar PV Training
Solar PV Training is a 5 - day, 40- hour course accredited by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC).
Practically speaking, you will learn how to install a Solar PV system, through both classroom lectures and a hands-on laboratory, while learning the Solar PV system design, and appropriate safety procedures for solar system installation and repair. Solar PV training will give you access to new job opportunities, while providing you with the knowledge to educate consumers and effectively market your business' solar services.
If you are just introducing yourself to the solar industry and practices, CleanEdison's Solar 101webinar review the basics of both Solar PV and Solar Thermal systems, allowing you to move forward with more advanced training.
Other Solar Training
In addition to a Solar PV Course, CleanEdison also offers Solar Thermal Courses as well. Solar Thermal Boot Camp is similar to the Solar Photovoltaic course, in that it teaches students installation techniques while providing them with a thorough understanding of the necessary equipment and necessary safety precautions. Solar Thermal Sales will provide students with additional knowledge to appropriately and effectively market their Solar Thermal Installation services. We also offer the Solar 101 Webinar and the Solar 102 Introduction to Solar Photovoltaic technology. These online classes are excellent starting points for those new to Solar PV, and they also count for credits from various standard-bearing bodies.
