CleanEdison Successfully Launces New Course For Required Lead Renovator Certification
September 14, 2010

NEW YORK, September 14, 2010 --- CleanEdison recently and successfully unveiled their Certified Lead Renovator Training Course nationwide. This is in reaction to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requiring all contractors who perform renovation, repair and painting projects that may disturb lead paint to be Lead RRP Certified. The Certified Lead Renovator Training Course is now available at cleanedison.com.

The EPA’s new requirement will affect all contractors conducting common renovation and repair work activities because demolition, deconstruction, sanding, or cutting can generate hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which are proven to be harmful to both adults and children. To protect against these risks, the EPA requires that all contractors must be enrolled in the Lead RRP-Certification as of September 30, 2010 in order to perform renovation, repair and painting projects in homes, rental facilities, child-occupied facilities, and schools built before 1978. For any contractor performing this work without the Lead RRP Certification, the EPA may seek penalties of up to $37,500 per violation, per day.

CleanEdison offers Lead RRP Certification in partnership with the National Center for Healthy Housing (NCHH), an EPA-accredited training provider. NCHH conducts research to find scientifically valid and practical strategies for making homes safe and healthy. Through its education and training programs, the NCHH alerts families and those who serve them to hazards in the home environment.

“Working with the National Center for Healthy Housing just makes sense. We share many of the same goals and interests when it comes to standards of living for homeowners across the country. This new requirement by the EPA will help us turn toward a safe, healthy, efficient environment for everyone.” – David Kleppe, CleanEdison

By successfully completing the 5-hour online component and a 3-hour hands-on training component course, students will become an EPA-Approved Certified Lead Renovator trained to follow lead-safe work practices. CleanEdison’s Certified Lead Renovator course instructs trainees to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination by adhering to three fundamental principles: contain the work area, minimize dust, and clean up thoroughly.

This new requirement is attracting a lot of attention right now in the renovation industry. Many uncertified workers have been made examples of. For just 8 hours of training, students can eliminate the pressure by the EPA for Lead Certification requirement.
